The diagnostic assessment

The first step for every child. It shows exactly where your child stands, skill by skill, and becomes their program for the year.

350 SARone time

Credited to your first month if your child joins within 14 days of the assessment.

11/21/4

What is included

A real assessment, not a placement quiz.

  • 45 to 60 minute guided assessment

One child, one guide, with Montessori materials so we see understanding as well as answers.

  • Skill-by-skill report

Every skill assessed is reported on its own, reviewed by a guide before you see it.

  • Root causes of gaps

When something is not secure, we trace it back to the earlier skill that is missing, so we teach the cause and not the symptom.

  • A program map for the year

Where your child starts in each area of Math, every skill they will master in order, the milestone checks and how you will see progress. See a sample program map.

  • A meeting with the guide

Time to ask questions, see the materials and agree a plan together.

  • No obligation to join

The report and program are yours to keep, whatever you decide.

From booking to a plan

  1. You book a time

Send the form below. We call you to agree a date and ask a few questions about your child.

  2. The assessment

45 to 60 minutes with a guide, using Montessori materials as well as paper. It is calm and unhurried; children usually enjoy it.

  3. The report

A skill-by-skill report showing what is secure, what is developing, and the root cause of any gap. A guide reviews every result.

  4. The meeting

We walk you through the report and your child’s custom program for the year, and recommend a rhythm that fits.

What to bring

We provide every material. Your child needs only to come rested.

  • Recent school reports or Math worksheets, if you have them. They help us understand what your child’s school expects.
  • Glasses, if your child wears them.
  • A water bottle and a small snack.
  • Your questions. The meeting is for you as much as for your child.

Plan for a little over an hour in total, including a short chat at the start.
